Above all Philippe Godefroid is a passionate about jazz through the history of popular American musique in order to learn more about its roots. Admitted at Berklee College of Music in Boston and former student at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, has permitted him to conjugate jazz and classical musique. Professional jazz drumer for more than 20 years, he has created his own orchestra consisting of 6 elements (piano, bass, tenor sax, trombone and trumpet (and sometimes clarinette).
Organiser of itinerant jazz concerts et producer, has permitted him to meet with and know the greatest jazz musicians like Miles Davis, Arnett Cobb, Lionel Hampton, Rickie Ford, Sam Woodyard, Sam Turner, Frankie Dunlop, Memphis Slim, Dizzy Gillespie, John Marshall, John Walker, Barry Reis, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, B.B. King, Ray Charles....
In 1619, the first african slaves arrived by the Compagnie Hollandaise de Navigation on the unknown land: “The United States of America”. This is the beginning of the history of popular American musique, which still transports us today. A real musical passion, which brings us to tell this history, in an Odyssée which starts with rhythm !
It seems important to us to transmit this history, by broadcasting it on the radio waves, in order to share our passion and present to the auditors all the misery and joys through which our fathers got through the time.
Their periods of glory and defeat have permitted us to know and like this history of popular American music.
